Litter Kwitter Rated Number 1 in Top 10 Successful Inventions on Adelaide Now
There’s a TV show in Australia where inventors or wanna be inventors can show their products or ideas and get feedback. Now more than 200 episodes of the show have run. One of these episodes can rightfully claim partial credit for our wonderful toilet trained cats. Litter Kwitter was recently listed at number 1 in the Top 10 successful inventions from the show in an article from “The Advertiser.”
For the past 200 episodes of the New Inventors, a litany of ideas has been thrown up for debate and consideration. Here are the top 10 success stories:
The invention: The Litter Kwitter is a cat toilet training device. It eradicates the need for a litter tray by training a cat to use the household toilet. The inventor was inspired after watching Mr Jinx, the cat on the movie “Meet The Parents”, using the toilet!
About the Inventor: Jo Lapidge from NSW enjoys restoring photos and, with her husband and co-inventor, loves making Home movies of their two children. Jo believes that the Litter Kwitter is suitable for all cats and strongly believes that all cats are potentially toilet trainable.
Air date: June 2005 (Series 2)
Success achieved since the show: The Litter Kwitter is available in 20 countries around the world. Jo is currently pushing sales in the North American market.
The other inventions are not cat related but for anyone interested, they are as follows:
2. Albac Mat… an evacuation mat for the fast and safe removal of individuals unable to remove themselves from emergency situations.
3. Every Drop Shower Saver… a lever (or paddle-like) device which can be retrofitted to the base of the shower stem which enables the water to be switched on and off while maintaining the water temperature. It facilitates the turning on and off of the water because the lever is positioned at eye level. The inventor believes making this task easier will encourage shower users to save water.
4. Ezy As Pressure Stocking Applicator… reduces the effort and pain when applying compression garments to both arms and legs.
5. Snapit Ampoule Opener… Many injectable medications are stored in sealed glass ampoules that require the lid to be snapped off to access the contents. The extended lever action means that Snapit breaks the top off ampoules cleanly.
6. Clever Peg… a double ended peg.
7. Transporter… a traditional looking coffin shaped box but with a trap door in the bottom of it, which combined with a standard cemetery lowering device, gently allows your shrouded body to enter the grave, thus causing as little damage to the environment as possible.
8. Biolytix Filter… a compact waste treatment system which converts raw sewage, wastewater and food waste into high quality irrigation water on site.
9. Smartburn… a device comprising a mixture of natural ingredients encased in a steel tube-like structure. When placed in a wood burning fire it reduces the particle emissions from the fire by up to 50 percent while simultaneously cleaning the chimney of black soot and sap deposits.
10. Sipahh Straw milk flavouring straw… filled with flavoured natural soluble beads. It is designed to be used with milk. When plain milk is sucked through the straw, it is flavoured by the beads, giving the same taste sensation as flavoured milk.
